Are you for real?

Oh, the weather! Really?! This is what we looked out on late last night! In APRIL! And yes, as you probably can imagine, it's taking it's toll on my body. I can feel it in "my bones!" I am SO ready for spring!

I took the title for this blog from one of my very favorite quotes- "A Living House" by CS Lewis. This was shared with me in 2001, around the time when I was first diagnosed with arthritis. Those were some of the most difficult days in my life. A complete stranger, whom I had only met through the internet, shared this with me. And it has stuck with me to this day.

A living House

God is building you!

Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what he is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on: you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised.

But presently he starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make sense. What on earth is he up to? The explanation is that he is building quite a different house from the one you thought of — throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards.

You thought you were going to be made into a decent little cottage: but he is building up a palace. He intends to come and live in it himself.
